How to prepare for a power cut

Stay safe when the lights go out

Power cuts don’t happen often, but when they do, they can cause a lot of disruption. A little preparation goes a long way.

Keep a torch (with batteries) in an easy-to-find place, and consider having a battery-powered radio to stay updated. Surge protectors can help protect appliances when the power returns, and if you have sensitive equipment, an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) may be worth considering.

Most importantly, never attempt to tamper with your electrical system during a power cut. If neighbours are affected too, it’s likely an external fault – your energy supplier will usually give updates. However, if you are unsure just get in touch with Fife Electrical Services and we will be on hand to help you out.
